ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

From its inception in 1973, the NUS Chinese Orchestra (NUSCO) has grown to become a prominent youth Chinese orchestra in the local music scene with over 100 musicians, including undergraduate and postgraduate students. NUSCO seeks to develop a lifelong appreciation of Chinese orchestral music amongst members through a holistic curriculum that cultivates a growth mindset within them.

NUSCO Logo

By increasing the relevance of Chinese orchestral music, NUSCO hopes to inspire other youth orchestras in Singapore to contribute to the sustainability of the art form. Under the tutelage of Music Director Moses Gay, and together with professional instructors, the orchestra aims to explore a myriad of creative performances to achieve its goals.

Our recent productions include NUSCO50 in June 2023 - an anniversary concert celebrating NUSCO’s 50th birthday; Essentially Macbeth in March 2023 - a collaborative production with NUS Chinese Drama for NUS Arts Festival 2023; and our Annual Concert, Seek 《三月天。寻》in March 2022.
